Nubian women are partners in success.

At the kind invitation of Professor Kamal Karbash, founder of the Diwan Forum Salon, I was honored to participate as a speaker on Nubian women at the Diwan Forum Salon. I was also privileged to share the stage with Counselor Jalila Amin, President of the Kandaka Association, and Professor Najla Ragab (Nana Kush), a founding member of Nabra Team Kush, in a seminar entitled:
“Women: Partners in the Struggle in the Journey of the Absent.”
Counselor Jalila Amin addressed the greatness of Nubian women, their historical roles, and their deeply rooted place in the Nubian consciousness. Professor Najla Ragab discussed women’s issues through her experience in Nabra Team Kush, speaking about social challenges, including the rising divorce rate, and other important matters.
My intervention focused on the strength of Nubian women and their pivotal role during the Sudanese war, citing the example of Nubian women in Wadi Halfa and their supportive stances towards displaced persons, as well as their genuine partnership with men in shouldering responsibilities, within a complementary role based on respect and justice. I emphasized that the relationship between men and women is not one of rivalry, but rather a balanced partnership that safeguards women’s rights without infringing upon men’s.
I also spoke about Nubiana magazine and its role in highlighting the status of Nubian women in various fields, and about the magazine’s sixth issue, which was dedicated to showcasing Nubian women, presenting inspiring examples of their contributions and prominent presence in diverse areas.
The seminar included insightful contributions and praise for Nubian women from attendees of both genders, in a dialogue that reflected the greatness of Nubian women and the depth of their history. It was a rich and impactful seminar, during which I was delighted to meet Nubian women from Egypt, in a space that brought together intellectual discourse and a spirit of solidarity between Nubians in both countries.
